MISSION//

MiA is a non-profit arts education program facilitated by parent volunteers of Jeremy Ranch Elementary students dedicated to teaching foundational art skills and inspiring confidence through creative expression.

SNAPSHOT HISTORY//

MiA was founded over 25 years ago in response to a lack of state funding for the arts in elementary schools. What started as a school closet is now home to a thriving art room filled with a community of invested parent volunteers.

ART CURRICULUM//

Our grade-specific art curriculum is based on core principles of elementary arts education:  line & shape in Kindergarten building to texture and gradation in higher grades.  We introduce students to a variety of mediums and seek inspiration from old world masters through local Utah artists.   We are the only arts program in the district with an on-site kiln for creating clay masterpieces and the Masterpieces of the Month recognition program for students.

HOW IT WORKS//

Every class at Jeremy Ranch has a MiA lead volunteer along with supporting art volunteers who work with their JRES teacher to determine a schedule for monthly art lessons in the student classrooms.  MiA volunteers spend time in our art room gathering art supplies, testing out projects and gaining inspiration & support from a step-by-step curriculum as well as a community of volunteers.

FUNDRAISING//

As a non-profit we rely solely on fundraising to sustain our program.  We run two fundraisers every academic year.  Our SilverGraphics fundraiser allows for the purchase of products like mugs, totes, and jewelry customized with your child’s artwork.  Our second fundraiser, the Spring Arts Festival, is an evening of fun, artistic comradery including a student art gallery, opportunity drawing and a silent auction where winning bidders take home collaborative artwork – one is created by every class.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES//

New volunteers are always welcome and encouraged!  You don’t need a formal arts degree to be a part of our community, just a positive and collaborative spirit.   Consider assisting a lead volunteer or bringing new inspiration to our artistic repertoire.
